improve all our lives. QUBO Technology is a spin-off that was founded in 2023 and is based on a
world-leading quantum photonics platform developed with the University of Vienna and published
in Nature. Our current focus lies on securing digital payments, the backbone of the economy and
all our lives, against quantum attacks. We are a passionate, interdisciplinary team and are already
working with internationally leading financial institutions. Located in beautiful Vienna, Austria and
embedded into a world-class quantum tech community of more than 50 people, we are working
on scalable quantum security, communication, and computing solutions, pushing the boundaries
of cryptography and quantum technology together.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a hands-on passionate (Senior) Embedded Systems Engineer, bringing practical
experience in embedded systems design and R&D work in a deep tech environment to accelerate
our technology development. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who enjoys working
closely with our multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and business builders to develop,
test, and deploy cutting-edge cryptographic protocols, software and hardware solutions grounded
in quantum technologies.

Responsibilities
- You will drive the design, testing, optimization, and implementation of embedded hard-and software solutions for our quantum system.
- Conduct R&D ranging from experiments to simulation and real-world demonstration in quantum cryptography, including the setup, calibration, and optimization of quantum solutions.
- As embedded system engineer you will play a crucial part in advancing our cryptographic solutions towards products that create a real impact on the business of our customers.
Qualifications
- Advanced Degree (Master, PhD) in Embedded Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related.
- Experience with FPGAs, HDL like VHDL or Verilog is essential.
- Experience in (digital)electronics design.
- Proven programming skills in C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
- Passion for bridging cutting edge science with making it real in practical applications.
- Ideal candidates have actively participated in designing and building an embedded system from the ground up.
- Previous experience in experimental R&D and/or technology development.
- Experience within the field of quantum systems is a plus but not a prerequisite.
- You had first exposure to a scientific research environment and to working in a startup or industrial environment.
